Looks like the HTCWizard "shot" we had the other day may well be thereal deal, since some Norwegian dudes caught a Qtek 9100 in the buff—and how. While we can't translate Norse, we wereable to pull a few key terms from the copy: 320 x 240 (as in, the screen res), EDGE/UMTS (we're not sure if that's arequest, or the real sitch), Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC (duh), 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and, of course,WiFi. You know we can't wait for this one—how they tease![Thanks, Murph]ReadPermalinkEmail this50 CommentsFiled under: Cellphones, HandheldsSubscribe to these commentsReader Comments (Page 1 of 1) NeutralBrian Wellbelove @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMI got a mail today directly from HTC (High Tech Cooperation) Stating it will be out in the shops, here in Denmark by October, and that TDC and Sonofon (Two major mobile compagnies in Denmark) will have the QTEK 9100 in their mobile fleet. You can thereby asume it will also be out in the rest of Europe by that time too.It was also confirmed, that it will support EDGE, bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Cool!Best regards: B.M.WellbeloveReply Neutralsantiagos @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMBrian, could you please find out from your contact at HTC what is the speed of the device. If it has an OMAP850 195MHZ processor, we won[t be able to use Skype.Reply Neutralsantiagos @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMBrian, could you please find out from your contact at HTC what is the speed of the device. Funny...are there not some other HTC PDAs out there that falsely list this profile? Fact of the matter is if this device is typical of HTC products and is sporting that oh-so-wonderful MS bluetooth stack, theres reeeally no point in having this in my opinion. As much as I love spending $800+ USD to have to speak into my PDA instead of my headset to activate voicedial, I think I'll pass and wait on the Moto Q. The 195mhz bit is not helping either. I hope someone out there can prove me wrong because I do like the design of this thing.Reply NeutralG @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMFunny thing about the specs on smartdevicesdirect.com is they list Handsfree as one of the supported bluetooth profiles. Besides, Mhz isn't really speed... AMD processors have low Mhz /Ghz settings, like 2.2Ghz but are as fast a intels 4ghz processors.Reply Neutralmula @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMThis phone is currently being tested by t-mobile USA to see the switch-over between GSM and Wifi (VoIP over WiFi). It should available by end of the year from T-Mobile USA.Reply NeutralOmar @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMAlexander,Could you confirm whether or not Skype will work on this device? This seems to be the break point for many users on HoFo as well as many other forums on the Web.No one else seems to be able to settle the debate.Since you are one of the lucky few to have the device, please confirm if it works or not. Thanks,OMARReply NeutralYura @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMGuys! 195Mhz - doesnt matter.Tell me one more thing. How come noone mentioned there will be 3 models of this...thing?100 110 and 200. 110 is with no camera, 200 is filled with the biggest number of functions though they are practically the samesome say Wizard will have 2mpix camera. can anyone tell me if that is true?one last thing: they say its much faster than Qtek s100. and i also heard that HTC Tornado (qtek 8300/8310) works almost 2 times faster than HTC Hurricane just because it has new Windows Mobile 5. could it be that HTC Wizard (Qtek 9100) will work much faster than HTC Magician (Qtek s100 or s110)?if you think yes, write me on teos_ef@mail.rucuz i was thinking about buying that Qtek s110 and now i wonder if i should wait cuz Qtek 9100 look much better to me. and WM 5 looks nicely.any ideas?oh and i tested s110 today - its a pretty nice thing. changed my mind about smartphones and PDA and cell phones. i dont want cell any more :DOh by the way i heard its coming to the shops this week!Reply NeutralE71 @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMYeah, what's with the 200MHz processor and where is the damn GPS?Bring on the all-in-one PDAPhones damn it. i will leave verizon for this oneReply NeutralPhysical Original @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMi will buy this within about 10 minutes of it becoming available (assuming it is going to be available for cingular). edge, bluetooth and wifi. good-bye treo... you'll be missed.Reply NeutralZach Mauch @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMi think it is safe to say that perfection for the pocket pc phone edition is within our reach. my only complaint is the resolution (would have liked 480x640). but hey, i can live with it. just hope it doesn't take a year to release in the us. if it is before the end of the year, i will wait for it. otherwise, i will just go with something now.Reply NeutralAnarquista @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMover at pcsintel.com http://www.pcsintel.com/modules.php?name=forums&file=viewtopic&t=4929&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0they are saying that there is a sprint ev-do variant of this and it should be out soon (august?)and is called the ppc-6700.this could be very sweet indeed!Reply NeutralRaymond Khalife @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMwould like to be on your mailing listReply NeutralAlexander @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMhi, it was me who published the pictures on windowsmobile.noto answer your question.1. we can use windowsmobile.no, since the page is being run by the norwegian distributor of windows mobile in norway (dangaard telecom norway)2. it will have edge support, no umts/3g. so 100 to 200 kbpb/s3. release date is christmas/beginning of 1st quarter4. you can call and use wifi at the same time5. when the keyboard comes out, the display changes. when you pull it back, it changes back again.Reply NeutralChrisXS @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMalexander: can you please provide physical dimensions (length x width x depth)?if it is indeed as small as it apears, this will be a very desireable unit.Reply Neutraljg @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMhey thanks alexander for answering all of our questions. i'm liking this phone more and more.Reply NeutralDIANA PRINCE @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMwhat is the difference between the 100 and 200version.what will be the band tri or quad?is it 128 ramno sharing of memory 128 for the other and 128 for the ram?when is the release date eta?how much?thanks you gadget people.Reply NeutralAdi @ Dec 19th 2005 1:02AMhey, does the bluetooth support a2dp profile for stereo headsets ?? It is rumored to have a OMAP850 195MHZ processor, which is shocking of course, because the Magician already has 416MHZ (Intel that is).
